RepairDoc legal
Text message terms
Last updated 29 October 2026
The short version
- Repair shops on RepairDoc text customers about their own repairs. Never marketing.
- You only get texts if you said yes. Saying yes is never required to get a repair.
- About 2–6 texts per repair. Msg & data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to opt out, START to opt back in, HELP for help.
1.The program
Program name: Repair updates from your repair shop, sent through RepairDoc. Each shop's texts start with or include the shop's name.
What you'll get: a confirmation when you check in a device; updates when its status changes (diagnosing, waiting on parts, in repair, ready for pickup); a link to approve or decline a quote; the shop's replies to your chat messages if you turned on "Text me replies"; sign-in codes you ask for; and, if the shop turned it on, one request to leave a review after pickup (at most once every 60 days).
What you won't get: marketing, promotions, offers or messages from anyone else.
How often: it depends on your repair, usually 2 to 6 texts per repair. Sign-in codes and chat replies only come when you ask or write.
Cost: Message and data rates may apply, based on your mobile plan.
2.How you opt in
You opt in by turning on Text me updates when you check in on a shop's check-in page or kiosk, by telling shop staff it's OK to text you, or by turning on Text me replies on your repair page. The switch is off until you turn it on. The wording you see is:
By turning this on, you agree to get texts from [Shop name] about this repair (check-in, quotes, status, pickup). About 2–6 texts per repair. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out. Consent isn't required to get a repair.
Turn on to get [Shop name]'s chat replies by text. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.
Agreeing to texts is not a condition of any purchase or repair. You can check your repair any time on its tracking page instead.
3.How you opt out
Reply STOP to any text. We'll send one last text to confirm and then stop. Other words that work: STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, REVOKE, OPTOUT. You can also ask the shop, or turn off texts on your repair page.
[Shop name]: You're unsubscribed and won't get more texts. Reply START to get repair updates again.
To get texts again, reply START (or UNSTOP, YES).
[Shop name]: You're subscribed to repair updates again. About 2–6 texts per repair. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
4.Getting help
Reply HELP to any text, or contact the shop that's fixing your device.
[Shop name] repair updates: texts about your repair. Help: [shop phone or email]. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.
For questions about RepairDoc itself, email support email.
5.The fine print
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Supported on major US carriers. Delivery isn't guaranteed.
- If you change or give up your number, reply STOP first or tell the shop so texts don't reach the next owner.
- No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Opt-in data and consent are never shared with third parties, except providers that deliver the texts.
- Our Privacy Policy explains how phone numbers and messages are handled.
6.For carrier registration (10DLC)
This section is for shops and our team when registering a brand and campaign with US carriers. Copy it as-is, replacing the bracketed parts.
Campaign use case: Customer care / account notifications (mixed if review requests are on).
Campaign description: [Shop name] sends transactional text messages to customers who have checked in a phone, tablet or laptop for repair and agreed to receive texts. Messages confirm check-in, report repair status changes, share quote approval links, deliver chat replies the customer asked to receive by text, send one-time sign-in codes on request, and (optional) send one review request after pickup. No marketing or promotional content.
How customers opt in: On the shop's web check-in page (opened from a QR code at the counter) or in-store kiosk, the customer turns on a "Text me updates" switch that is off by default, next to the consent wording above, with links to these terms and the privacy policy. At the counter, staff ask the customer and turn on the switch only if they agree. On the repair tracking page the customer can turn on "Text me replies". Engineering: store the opt-in time and source for each number before going live.
